Brisbane’s first weekly market dedicated to pets is coming to Woolloongabba.
There’s no shortage of markets in Brisbane, but until now, one very important demographic wasn’t being catered for — our furry friends.
The Pets at the Gabba Markets will be the first markets in Brisbane devoted to pets, celebrating Brisbane’s vibrant community of doggos, kitties and everything in between.
Event managers Lia Onorati and Renee Cutting say the market will showcase the best pet products and services available locally and nationally, catering to all types of pets, while also raising much-needed funds for pet charities.
Each month, a different charity will be selected to receive part of the stall cost as a donation. In addition to this, there’ll be raffles every week (with prizes donated by stall holders and other companies in the pet industry), with the designated charity of the month to receive all proceeds.
The first charity of the month will be RSPCA QLD.
There will also be live music, for those pets who love a good tune. And while the focus of the market is firmly on pets, there will be food stalls for pet parents, too, so you won’t have to resort to eating dog food while you escort your fur babies around the event. There’s even a licensed American Smokehouse on the premises.
The Pets at the Gabba Markets will be held at 73 Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba (across from the Norman Hotel) from 3pm to 9pm on Saturday 25 March, and every Saturday after that.

RSPCA??! Are you serious? One of the best funded animal welfare organisations via donations and bequests! What about all the small rescues run by volunteers who put in their own funds to collect animals from pounds and then feed those animals? Many volunteers work full time jobs yet still find the time and energy to do their bit for abandoned and abused animals. I will wait until the proceeds are going to a smaller, less well funded rescue group before I make a visit.
Fair comment Nadine. Hopefully the RSPCA will put some extra marketing out there for this being such a big organisaton, flyers in their stores etc would be good. Get the awareness out there and the following weeks when the funding does go to a smaller rescue it should have some momentum. Havnt seen it on fb yet no doubt the ones organising this have a plan for marketing?
Just because the RSPCA is well funded doesn’t mean they are any less deserving. The RSPCA perform a function well beyond that of the small rescues such as seizing animals from abusive homes and bringing legal action against the perpetrators. Their staff and volunteers are well trained and not being dependent on private vetinary practices makes them more cost effective. The benifit of small rescues is that they foster the animal into a loving home but this could never replace the vital functions performed by the RSPCA.
Are you open Easter Saturday
