There’s nothing quite like the bittersweet feeling of getting stuck into a gelato while your canine pal has to miss out.

Finally, they can stop looking at you with those sad puppy dog eyes while you’re trying to enjoy your treat, because Gelatissimo have just announced a Doggie Gelato range. Yep, seriously.

The dairy-free, gluten-free, creamy-style gelato is peanut nougat-flavoured, and has been specifically designed so dogs can get right into it without any adverse effects on their adorable little stomachs.

Oh, and it’s also safe for humans to eat, if that’s the kind of thing you think you might be into.

“Gelatissimo is all about innovation, and I love the challenge of developing these new, exciting and unique flavours,” says Gelatissimo’s Anna Temellini.

“We had a very talented team behind this creation, and a lot of work and research went into ensuring we mastered the perfect flavour, whgile also keeping the product safe and edible for Australia’s most photographed family members!

“We’re really proud to be able to welcome dogs in our stores and give them the opportunity to become even more a part of the family that they love so unconditionally!”

The good news is that Doggie Gelato will be available from this Saturday 26 March.

The bad news is that it’ll only be available at 18 Gelatissimo stores around the country, and the only Queensland stores on the list are in Coolangatta, Mackay, Mooloolaba, Noosa, Toowoomba and Surfers Paradise. Perfect for a beachside trip with your pooch, true, but the Brisbane City store misses out!
