Cheeky canine Ludivine accidentally joined a half marathon — and came in seventh place.
Have you ever woken up on a Saturday morning to use the bathroom and then ended up competing in a nearby marathon? No, me neither, but that is exactly what happened to Alabama pup Ludivine last week.
After her owner released her from the house, the dog, who is prone to wandering, made a slight detour to the starting line of the Trackless Train Trek Half Marathon. Not only did she join in with the runners, but she completed the entire course and was awarded seventh place at a time of just over one hour and 30 minutes.
Ludivine’s owner April Hamlin told Canadian Running Magazine “all I did was open the door, and she ran the race on her own accord.” Luckily the dog is recognised around town and was safely reunited with Hamlin after the escapade.
The owner was quite surprised by her dog’s efforts, commenting that she was usually quite lazy and it was hard to believe she could complete a half marathon.
Moral of the story: if you haven’t started fulfilling all of your New Year’s fitness resolutions yet, make this dog your spirit animal ASAP!
