Summer is nearly here and that means beach time! bmag has compiled a list of Brisbane’s best dog beaches so that your four legged friends can enjoy the sun and the sand as well.

Colmslie Recreation Reserve

Colmslie combines the best of both worlds — an off-leash park and a dog friendly beach! Located on the banks of the Brisbane River, Colmslie Recreation Reserve provides dogs with a fenced agility park to stretch their legs and then splash around in the water.

There is plenty for the whole family to enjoy with a boat ramp and fishing jetty close by, as well as a playground, BBQ and picnic facilities and amenities.

Where: Off Lytton Road, Morningside 4170.

Aquatic Paradise dog park

Aquatic Paradise park is perfect for energetic dogs and their owners. With a bike path running along the foreshore, dogs can enjoy a run alongside their owner and then cool off in the water.

The only issue is the area is not well-fenced and is near a road, so dogs must be watched closely.

Where: Commodore Drive, Birkdale 4159.

Deception Bay off-leash area

Another great location for the whole family! Between Wallin Avenue and Beach Road, dogs are free to roam the beach and frolic in the water. The water is quite shallow and is perfect for children to swim in.

There is a playground and BBQ area just a short walk from the beach.

Where: Between Wallin Avenue and Beach Road, Deception Bay 4508.

Tuckeroo Park

Tuckeroo Park is known as an ‘adventure park’ for dogs! The park has a ‘Doggy World’ obstacle course and is a great place to socialise, for both dogs and their owners!

The park is an off-leash area that gives dogs their own section of the beach to enjoy.

Tuckeroo Park is well fenced but if you wish to take your dog outside of the fenced area, they must be on a leash.

Where: Nudgee Road, Nudgee Beach 4014.

Decker Park

Dogs are free to play in the water and along the beach as long as they are on a leash. There is also a well-shaded, fenced agility area for dogs to enjoy.

Decker Park is known as an ‘all in one’ park; a park that has something for everyone. Alongside the dog park is a large playground, a half basketball court, BBQ and picnic facilities and bike paths.

Where: Twenty-fifth Avenue, Brighton 4017.
