Fortitude Valley’s new arcade bar and diner, Netherworld, is hosting a morning of fun for tiny terrors and their guardians.
Netherworld — the brainchild of local pinball wizard James Angliss and The Scratch owners Ben Nichols and Kieran Ryan — is basically the venue of our dreams, with 15 pinball machines, 25 arcade machines, classic consoles and countless board games, as well as 24 taps’ worth of local beer, cider and mixed elixirs, and a diner serving up delicious bites, buns and bowls.
It opened last week in the space formerly occupied by The Step Inn and The Underdog, and in that time, the owners say the most frequently asked question they’ve had to field is “Can I bring my tiny terror?”
The venue is for big (18+) kids only after 5pm, but this Sunday, they’re opening a little earlier than usual to host Little Monsters — ‘a morning for guardians and monsters to be’.
Discount tokens will be available for the event, and Netherworld denizens will even be hosting a Sunday Arcade School to show kids how arcade games were played back in their day.
The kitchen won’t be open, but the bar will be, and it’ll be stocked with soda, juice, and a few less sugar-heavy drinks.
Little Monsters will be held at Netherworld (186 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley) this Sunday 22 January from 10am to midday.
