Escape the cold this winter with NIDA Open’s exciting line-up of performing arts classes rolling out in Brisbane.
From Monday 27 June to Sunday 10 July, NIDA Open are giving people of all ages the opportunity to unleash their creative side and engage in performing arts short courses.
Head of NIDA Open, Tricia Ryan says these classes (which are held at Metro Arts) offer opportunities for participants to engage the senses and inspire the imagination during the cooler months.
“The winter holiday program offers something for everyone and for every skill-level – anyone from children to adults can jump in and try something brand-new or build their skills this July,” she says.
“No matter the course, NIDA Open classes offer the chance for participants to find their creative voice and become inspired.”
Some of the performing arts classes kids can enjoy these school holidays include:
Musical Theatre Boot Camp
On from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 June, musical theatre boot camp will give children from grade 3 to 6 the opportunity to work with music theatre experts to create a short song and story presentation.
From 10am to 5pm learn all about the magic of music theatre and find out just what it takes to become a music theatre star!
At the end of the course participants will perform their song and give a story presentation in front of family and friends.
NIDA Wonderland Stories
From Thursday 30 June to Friday 1 July, kids can discover the amazing world of Alice and the characters she meets on her extraordinary adventures.
From 10am to 5pm children grades 3 to 6 can create characters using props and costume, and devise their own Wonderland scenes.
NIDA Drama School
In this comprehensive drama course held from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8 July, participants will develop performance skills including improvisation, voice and movement, devising, acting, and rehearsing scenes.
Participants then put their skills to the test and perform scenes for family and friends to round out the course.
Screen Acting Boot Camp
In this two-day course from Saturday 9 to Sunday 10 July, children and teens will experience the essentials of screen acting during this intensive two-day course.
Participants will develop skills in improvisation, character development and script work, then put thier skills to the test as their rehearse and present live and recorded scenes for family and friends at the end of the course.
