To celebrate its first birthday, Where the Wild Things Are in West End is holding a weekend-long party filled with fun activities just for kids!
It’s been a whole year since Avid Reader’s colourful sister store, Where the Wild Things Are, opened its doors in West End and to celebrate they’ve put together a whole weekend – from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 March – full of fun activities for young Brisbane readers.
Festivities kick off at 4pm on Friday, when Maisy Mouse will be visiting the store to meet and greet her fans, followed by a Wild Rumpus dress-up party with prizes for best and wildest costumes, cake (and wine for the adults!) and a Wild Rumpus Parade.
The evening will also see a visit from special guest Isobel Carmody, recently voted Australia’s Favourite Author.
On Saturday, come in your best super hero outfit for Super Hero Morning, featuring Maisy Mouse and some super activities for kids!
One of Brisbane’s most popular local authors, Peter Carnarvas, will also be there to help celebrate with a reading from his newest book.
On Saturday afternoon from 3pm, parents can take a break and sit down for afternoon tea with local authors and illustrators, who’ll be signing books and chatting with kids and adults over coffee (or babychinos) and cupcakes! Delicious!
You’ll need the break, parents, because Sunday will be the wildest day of all with real live creatures in the shop!
Wild Rangers will be stopping by from 11am to 1pm with all kinds of cool soft and scaly animal friends for kids to see and touch.
Throughout the weekend, kids will also have a chance to tell staff about their favourite things about Where The Wild Things Are to win special prizes.
Where the Wild Things Are celebrations will be held from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 March at 191 Boundary Street in West End. For more information and the full list of events click here
