Parents, you don’t ever need to feel the pain of stepping on a plastic Lego brick again.
In a stroke of actual genius that will have mums and dads celebrating in the streets, a French advertising agency working with Lego have created a pair of protective Lego-branded slippers, for all those times you find yourself stepping through a lounge room filled with little pointy plastic pieces.
The squared-off slippers are interchangeable between left and right feet (handy for when you’re fumbling around to find them in the dark), with an open back so you can slip them on and off easily. They come in bright red and yellow, with that classic Lego logo on top of the foot.
The massive amount of padding on the insoles of the slippers ensures you can walk through Lego landmines unharmed. Forget individual bricks — you could step on a whole Lego playset and you probably wouldn’t notice with these things on.
That’s the good news. Now here’s the bad news — at this stage, only 1,500 pairs of Lego-proof slippers have been produced, according to French blog Piwee, and they’re being given away at random to people who fill out a Christmas wish list on the Lego France website.
Don’t let that dash your hopes, though. This is one of those great, seemingly obvious, ‘why didn’t anyone think of this earlier?’ sorts of ideas — and we’re confident that once Lego sees the response to this French promotion, they’ll roll them out across the rest of the world.
If not? Well, there’s always eBay.
