Ed and Dee Parsons were worried about bringing a child into this world — until their baby gave them a sign that everything would be alright.
The Daily Mail reports that when the couple saw their baby in the womb at 20 weeks, the child was unmistakably making a V-sign — a victory gesture made famous by Winston Churchill, that later became synonymous with world peace.
“The photographer couldn’t believe it — she said she had never seen anything like it before,” Mrs Parsons said.
“It’s nice to have such an iconic image of peace when there’s so much unrest all around us. It was very reassuring.”
Mrs Parsons said she and her husband had concerns about bringing a child into such a cruel world, particularly after the death of someone close to them.
“We were thinking, we’re bringing this child into the world at such a horrible time,” she said. “But then this happened, (and) we couldn’t quite believe what we were seeing. All our friends said they thought it was such a positive, happy symbol.”
The Surrey couple are thinking of calling the baby Winston if it’s a boy, but for now, they’ve given it a much simpler name.
“(Winston is) growing on us,” Mrs Parsons said. “But for now we are calling it Peace Baby. That’s our nickname.”
Nice one, Peace Baby.
