A year seven student from New South Wales has penned a powerful letter to the Indonesian President in a bid for clemency for Bali Nine smugglers.
Jessica Larter, a 12-year-old grade seven student, has written to the Indonesian President Joko Widodo, asking him to spare the lives of Bali Nine smugglers Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran in a heartfelt letter.
She cites their reformation as reason for clemency, and adds that she wouldn’t want to live in “…a world without second chances and forgiveness”.
She adds that Australia’s perception of Indonesia has already been affected by the controversy, and hopes that a last-minute reprieve will improve the country’s image.

Fantastic letter and should be read by everyone in Indonesia, particularly the President!!!!
‘Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.’
What a wonderful letter Jessica. You are a credit to your parents & your school. You have very eloquently put across the thoughts of thousands of people, not only in Australia but around the world. I hope the person it is addressed to reads it and takes heed of your wise words.
Jessica, Wow your letter is amazing and all so true. If everyone was so true like you the world would be a wonderful place. The death penalty has no place in today’s world. No one and I mean NO ONE has the right to decided whether a life should be take or not
If everyone in the world felt like this the world would be a better place in which to live!
What a thoughtful letter from a 12 years old girl.
