Young diva and Redland singer-songwriter Breanna Fielding will mark a major career milestone when she takes the stage at the free Christmas by Starlight community concert this Saturday.
The 16-year-old diva excitedly declared it will be her first live duet, “And it will be with Connor Crawford!”
Former Sheldon College student Connor headlines a host of local talent for the night of festive family fun. It will be his homecoming and his first Redland performance since receiving critical acclaim while touring with Jersey Boys.
Ormiston College student Breanna is preparing for her performance, with her “big dream” to become a worldwide performer, like Beyonce who she recently saw live in concert.
Breanna is very ambition. When asked what her immediate goal was she replied to sing the national anthem in front of a huge crowd at a major sporting event.
Children will play while families relax on picnic rugs and chairs singing carols, dancing and watching the fireworks.
The R&B/Pop devotee is in the process of a hectic audition schedule for Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols in Brisbane and, outside of school, is rarely seen without her “little black book” which carries “pages and pages” of lyrics she has penned whenever she feels the urge.
“My friends don’t know about it,” says Breanna. “But I carry my book everywhere with me and I will just grab it and start writing stuff down – it can be about people I know or people I just have met … even just little things that grab my attention,” she says.
Breanna also practices singing every day – more on weekends and ahead of performances – and is taking piano lessons as well as teaching herself the guitar.
Having started dancing at the age of 3, singing at 6 and acting at 8, Breanna has already compiled an impressive CV of achievements, including a lengthy list of community and competitive performances.
This years’ free Christmas by Starlight concert at Cleveland will host children’s entertainment from 3pm, a special children’s concert from 5.30pm, and traditional twilight carols from 6pm and who could forget a spectacular fireworks finale at 8pm.
The Redland Showgrounds gates open at 3pm on 7 December with rides, face painting, rock climbing and entertainment available for the whole family to enjoy.
