The Rockpool Dining Group — the restaurateurs behind Saké Restaurant & Bar, Bavarian Bier Café, Fratelli Famous, and Burger Project — are bringing a new venue to the Brisbane Showgrounds.

Due to open later this year, the first collaboration between the Rockpool Dining Group and Urban Craft Brewing Co. will be located at the northern corner of King Street, in the revitalised Royal Snack Bar.

The design is expected to reflect an eclectic mix of rustic and modern styles utilising the existing architecture, landscape and reclaimed materials from pavilions within Brisbane Showgrounds.

Brisbane Showgrounds project director Andrew Hay says the new concept, which has not yet been named, will be a great addition to Brisbane’s new dining and creative precinct.

“Lendlease creates the best places and ensuring we have the right retail mix is a vital component,” he says.

“We have carefully curated the food and beverage offering at King Street so that people can experience the best local talent and produce.

“We are thrilled to welcome award-winning restaurateurs, Rockpool Dining Group, to our precinct. Brisbane is already very familiar with their amazing restaurants, Saké Restaurant & Bar, Bavarian Bier Café, Fratelli Famous, and the soon-to-open Burger Project, which will be a first for the city, and we cannot wait for people to experience their exciting next chapter in this truly unique space.”

Rockpool Dining Group CEO Thomas Pash says his company is thrilled to have secured a prime spot at Brisbane Showgrounds.

“We believe that Queensland is fertile ground for all of our restaurant brands, from premium, to casual and fast casual, with a huge appetite for new offerings amongst locals and tourists alike,” he says.

Rockpool’s new offering will join fellow King Street tenants GG’s Espresso, The George, Fat Dumpling, Il Verde, Sushi & Nori and Hello Chicken, with The Lamb Shop due to open in February.

Kings Co-Op is currently under construction at Brisbane Showgrounds and is expected to open in time for Ekka 2017.
