Doomben Racecourse will host a day of BBQ championships, craft beer, food trucks, live music, masterclasses and more.
Brisbane’s newest festival will give you a chance to chow down on giant hunks of meat from some of Brisbane’s best BBQ experts while you sip craft beer and watch live bands.
Australia’s best BBQ crews will be on hand, teasing you with their smoke and sauce creations and battling it out to win their share of a prize pool worth over $15,000.
If you’re so inclined, you’ll then be able to ask the BBQ experts every question you’ve ever had about ‘queing and brewing at one of the festival’s masterclasses.
Event director Julian D’Souza — the man behind the World Food Markets and Stones Corner Festival — says the event is the result of more than two years of planning.
“We are introducing an exciting roving event that brings to life Australia’s love for food markets, BBQ and craft beers with education, competitions and unique experiences in a festival environment,” he says.
“With a focus on BBQ, visitors can see the latest low and slow cooking techniques utilised by the best crews in Australia, and they can enjoy a broad selection of delicious meats and other food from our vendors. Complementing the food choices will be around 20 different bars with a raft of boutique beers from popular as well as smaller breweries ensuring people will discover beers they’ve never heard of or tasted before.
“Brisbane summer will provide the perfect backdrop for the first instalment of the travelling event and we’re excited to get it off the ground.
“We’re particularly excited about the BBQ competition, with plenty of interest coming from crews all over Australia indicating that BBQ & Beer Roadshow is an authentic celebration.”
