Brew Masters are throwing down the gauntlet to burger lovers this weekend, and it’s all for a good cause.
Brew Masters have cooked up a ‘challenge burger’ containing a mighty six layers of meat patties and cheese, topped with bacon, mesclun, tomato, caramelised onion, house-made smoky bourbon BBQ sauce and mayonnaise.
Entrants who successfully down the burger tower, which is served with a large chips and a flavoured milkshake, will receive a $50 Brew Masters voucher, and get their photo on the Burger Wall of Flame.
Oh, and you have to do it all in 20 minutes or less.
The ‘Octoburgerfest’ challenge has been running all through October, but this weekend (Saturday 29 October and Sunday 30 October), $5 from every challenge undertaken will be donated to the brilliant local charity, Orange Sky Laundry, who provide a free mobile laundry service to the homeless. They’ve also recently launched Orange Sky Showers, a free mobile shower van for the homeless.
The current record for consuming the monster burger is 18 minutes, held by Brisbane local David Haines.
“We’ve received so many comments on our Facebook page about how easy the challenge looks,” says Brew Masters owner Ellie Kayrouz.
“Everyone seems to think they’d be able to beat the current record time. So I’m calling on all local residents and throwing the challenge out there.
“It is really important to me that we give back to our local community, and I think Orange Sky Laundry is such a great service. I’m keen to help them out.”
The Octoburgerfest charity challenge is on this Saturday 29 October and Sunday 30 October at Brew Masters (Shop 2/8 Days Road, Grange). The winner with the fastest time under 20 minutes will be announced on Brew Masters’ Facebook and Instagram accounts on Monday 31 October.
