Fortitude Valley is about to level up.

Brisbane’s resident pinball wizard James Angliss and beer lovers Ben Nichols and Kieran Ryan, the owners of The Scratch in Milton, are pushing start on Netherworld, the bar of our dreams.

Set to open on the corner of Brunswick Street and St Paul’s Terrace (the same place The Step Inn, The Shamrock and The Underdog once stood), this fully operational battle station is going to come stocked with 15 pinball machines, 25 arcade machines, classic consoles, and even a stack of boardgames for the less digitally inclined.

Because Nichols and Ryan are involved, you can also expect an impressive selection of craft beers.

There’s no word yet on whether or not Tapper will be one of the classic arcade games, but it’d seem appropriate, wouldn’t it?

Currently under construction, there’s no firm release date in place for this one yet — but, with this news coming so soon on the heels of the opening of the insane Holey Moley Golf Club, we have a feeling we’re going to be spending a lot more time in the Valley from now on.

Game over, man. Game over.

Netherworld (186 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley) is coming soon — keep an eye on their website and Facebook page for more details, and subscribe to Bmag for updates.

UPDATE (04/01/17): Netherworld will open this Saturday 7 January from midday until 3am, with video game theme wizards Boss Fight playing live music in the arcade room from 8pm!
