Brisbane is getting yet another food truck event — but this one’s got a legend at the helm.
It’s hard to believe that there was once a time, not that long ago, when the idea of a gathering of Brisbane food trucks was considered a novelty.
Now they’re practically a dime a dozen, and while we’re always grateful to sample some of Brisbane’s finest mobile meals in one place, the truth is that any new food truck event needs to offer something special to stand out from the crowd.
It’s safe to say Harry’s Truck Stop qualifies. The new event is being run by Harold (Harry) Fleming, the genius behind The Bun Mobile — Brisbane’s first ever official food truck.
Essentially, everyone who’s ever operated a food truck in Brisbane since the launch of The Bun Mobile in 2011 has been operating on Harry’s corner. He’s the old gunslinger of the Brisbane food truck scene, and he’s still as quick on the draw as ever.
So if Harry approves of your food truck, well, that’s kind of a big deal. And every food truck at Harry’s Truck Stop has been personally selected by Harry.
Harry’s Truck Stop — presented by Harold Fleming, street retail group The Box Brand and the team at The Street Food Depot — will roll into King George Square for the first time tomorrow (Tuesday 6 September), from 11am to 2pm.
Then it’ll hit Di Bella Coffee’s Bowen Hills site (82 Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills) on Sunday 18 September.
The event will pop back up in King George Square every second Tuesday, and at Di Bella Coffee in Bowen Hills every second Sunday.
Expect to see the likes of King of the Wings, That BBQ Joint, Rolls Pho Mi, The Bone Lorry, Sigeunos, Ruby The Little Red Ice Cream Van, Micasa, Pizzantica, Jaffle Shmaffle and, of course, The Bun Mobile.

Best freshest food. Top quality produce. Friendly efficient service. & deserts to die for.
Any food truck in King George Square is anathema to me. To see those magnificent lions surrounded by red top wheelie bins and oil and grease left on the tarmac ready to fry those eggs in the heat of summer is heartbreaking. Jubilant welcomes to Olympians is what KGS is all about. When Jesus returns, he will drive all the money changers out of my King George Square.
Someone is bound to collapse and die in that ‘desert’ known as King George Square during the heat of Summer.
