Brisbane’s low ‘n’ slow barbecue kings, the Barbecue Mafia, are bringing an afternoon of deliciousness to the Crowbar in Fortitude Valley.

It’s about to get smokey as hell in the Valley.

The Barbecue Mafia are three lads from Brisbane — Drew, Chris and Gareth — who came together in 2013 to form the Avengers of low ‘n’ slow BBQ. (They’ve since added a fourth member, Ryan, who we guess would be either the Vision or the Scarlet Witch in that analogy.)

After taking part in competitions all around Australia, the boys decided to take their passion to the next level and take their wares directly to the people.

The Mafia smoke their meats for 12 hours on a custom 24-inch Radar Hill smoker they like to call The Don. It’s pretty epic.

Now they’re taking their talents to the Crowbar in Fortitude Valley for the CrowBBQ. The menu will feature a selection of Jameson-injected BBQ favourites, from the Mafia’s notorious smoked beef brisket cheeseburger to a smoked lamb shoulder and feta burger.

There’ll be four sliders on the menu in total, and meat fiends will want to catch ’em all.

To help you wash all that meat down, each burger will be paired with a beer from cult favourite Newtown brewers Young Henry’s.

There’ll also be live smokey ballads from Rick Fredericks (from local hard rockers Smoke) and swampy blues from Sonny (from local heavy blues act Deadweight Express).

The CrowBBQ will be held at Crowbar (243 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley) on Sunday 17 July from 1pm. It’s an 18+ event, and entry is free.
