If ever there was a perfect excuse to eat chocolate, this would be it. Tomorrow (7 July) is World Chocolate Day (cue big smiles).
The day celebrates the consumption of chocolate, marking 465 years since chocolate was first introduced to Europe. (Really, every day should be a celebration of the consumption of chocolate, but we’ll take this one if it’s here.)
To celebrate this momentous (and delicious) occasion, we’ve put together a list of our favourite places in Brisbane to get your chocolate fix.
If you’re craving rich chocolatey goodness, Dello Mano is one place you can’t go past.
Owners Deborah and Bien Peralta are well known for their decedent brownies and are absolutely obsessed with chocolate.
Their brownie selection is huge with hazelnut and raspberry, honey and macadamia, coffee and walnut, and rum and chilli among our favourites, and that’s not even scratching the surface of their flavours. They also have a signature chilli hot chocolate and a range of chocolate truffles, tarts and cakes.

Sourcing only the best Australian ingredients, Mayfield Chocolates have a knack when it comes to flavour combinations – and naming chocolates.
Some of the chocolates on the menu include Bushranger’s Dream with Queensland rum and sultana ganache in dark chocolate, Hinterland with Tasmania leatherwood honey and Queensland ginger ganache, and Coffee Queenslander with Queensland dark rum and coffee ganache in milk and dark chocolate.
Needless to say, Mayfield is more of an adult’s chocolate playground.

31 Degrees Custom Chocolates
Up until the opening of 31 Degrees’ physical store in Woolloongabba last month, chocolate lovers were only able to browse the store online. Now, we can go in and buy everything on the shelves!
Everything is customisable at 31 Degrees, from the shell to the filling, but a few favourites have emerged. The white chocolate passionfruit praline is a best-seller, followed by salted caramel bars, rocky road, and the infamous decadence bars. You’ve got to get in on those, guys.

Lindt Chocolate Shop
Lindt Chocolate Shop at DFO Brisbane Airport is like a Swiss chocolate wonderland.
The shop houses Australia’s largest selection of Lindor balls with incredibly rare flavours like cappuccino, champagne, Irish crème, mint, raspberry and caramel brownie, and a range of chocolate bars, blocks and sharing bags.
But that’s not all, it’s also home to a chocolate bar dedicated to serving hot and cold chocolate drinks. OMG!

The Dark Chocolatier by the Noosa Chocolate Factory
If you love dark chocolate, this is definitely the place for you!
The store and cafe not only offers specialty coffees and hot chocolates, but a range of chocolate brownies, slabs of dark chocolate and rocky roads and a range of chocolate covered fruits and nuts.

If you’re a coffee lover, chances are you’ll know all about Bunker Espresso in Milton.
What you may not know though, is that they serve a range of hot chocolates that will literally make your taste buds pack up and call it a day. Chilli, peanut butter, peppermint….the list goes on!

An aristan chocolate shop in Red Hill, Couverture & Co create hand crafted chocolate magic onsite using traditional methods, skilled hands and a whole lot of love.
From Banoffee with caramel and banana cream in milk chocolate, to the vegan Cassis with dark chocolate ganache and blackcurrants – all Couverture & Co’s chocolates are made from the finest Belgian Callebaut chocolate and are gluten free (unless otherwise indicated). Does that mean we can have double helpings?

New Farm Confectionery
This adorable hole-in-the-wall next to the New Farm Cinemas offers a delicious selection of artisan, handmade and preservative-free confectionery for adults from the mind of chef Jodie Nielson.
Neilson was bitten by the chocolate bug in France, where even the burliest builders will stop for a sweet treat on their lunch breaks, and decided to bring that Parisian attitude to Brisbane with a range of melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows, peanut brittle, nougats, salted caramels and more, all made with Belgian chocolate. You can even grab a seat out the front and sip on one of her amazing milkshakes and hot chocolates, available in a range of flavours.

These guys are real lovers of all things chocolate – a bit like us!
There are two things we absolutely can’t go past on their extensive menu of chocolate treats – the Turkish delight chocolate cake and the coconut and chocolate or almond and chocolate flavoured croissants – may as well get both!
Milani House of Gelato
If gelato is your preferred chocolate delivery system, you’ve got to give this Hamilton hotspot a try — owner Yue Lin’s dark chocolate gelato whipped the field to be crowned Australia’s best ice cream, gelato or sorbet at the Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show earlier this year.
Judges praised the smooth, creamy and luscious flavour of the dark chocolate gelato, which is made fresh every day with all natural ingredients.
