Beer Deluxe is finally coming to Brisbane, and it’s going to be the biggest one yet, with up to 300 craft beers on offer.
Beer DeLuxe is a bar chain known for its massive range of craft beers. You’ll find them in Melbourne, Sydney, and even regional New South Wales, but you won’t find one in Brisbane.
But that’s all about to change. We had a chat to Beer DeLuxe director Craig Shearer about the brand’s expansion plans, which includes the opening of Brisbane’s first Beer DeLuxe — at 167 Eagle Street — early next year.
“Our flagship venue at Federation Square works extremely well with its close proximity to the Melbourne CBD, as well as being located within Melbourne’s tourist and event precinct, the Yarra River. Eagle Street ticks the same boxes with its access to the Brisbane CBD, as well as the vibrant nature of the Eagle Street pier,” Craig explains.
“The view of the Story Bridge is also quite spectacular and adds to the appeal of the site.”
Craig believes Beer DeLuxe’s massive range will set Beer DeLuxe apart from other Brisbane bars.
“Quite simply, it is choice,” he says. “Our selection of local and international craft beers is one facet to our business model, but combined with a large spirit, wine and cocktail portfolio and simple but high quality shared menu options, it means that Beer DeLuxe offers a lot more than many other bars, pubs and restaurants. We combine all of these with some light entertainment in a really vibrant atmosphere which offers something for everyone.”
Patrons will certainly be spoiled for choice in Brisbane, where Craig believes the range will exceed Sydney and Melbourne’s.
“We will have a bit of fun with this,” he says. “Most likely Brisbane will have the largest range of tap beers out of all the Beer DeLuxes, combined with a huge number of packaged options. The number will fluctuate but probably sit around the 300 mark.”
As well as the sheer size of their range, Beer DeLuxe venues are known for stocking plenty of international brews that you don’t often see in Australia. But in Craig’s opinion, Australian brewers make the world’s best beer.
“I may be a bit biased, but I love what we are seeing coming out of our very own backyard,” he says. “Aussie brewers are, in my opinion, giving us amazing beers that continue to improve and raise the bar.
“Supporting local brewers is a huge part of our business. You will see from our recently opened site in Sydney that there is a huge emphasis on local craft beers from New South Wales. Brisbane and Queensland have some amazing brewers and we will most definitely be showcasing their products.”
Although the focus of Beer DeLuxe is firmly on craft beer, you can also expect to see plenty of bar food on the menu.
“There will be a good selection of beer food sharing items, combined with our signature burgers and pizzas,” Craig says. “Our food is designed to be eaten with your hands while you’re sharing a drink and a laugh.”
An exact opening date for the venue has yet to be decided on, but Craig is hoping to launch in the first quarter of 2017 — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
“We will certainly have additional sites in Queensland,” he says. “Some options include the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, and of course, further expansion into Brisbane.”
