The Brisbane BBQ Festival is back — bigger, better and barbecue-ier than ever.

After selling out at South Bank in 2015, this year’s event is moving to the Brisbane Showgrounds.

More than 40 competitive barbecue teams will be in attendance to compete for the Brisbane BBQ Championships 2016 title, serving up expertly cooked pork, poultry, ribs and brisket to the judging panel.

If the idea of watching the BBQ Championships doesn’t sizzle your sausage, don’t worry — there’ll be plenty of food stalls on hand to satisfy those who are just looking for a good feed.

Ze Pickle will have a pop-up kitchen at the event, as well as That BBQ Joint, Rangers Texas BBQ, Bella BBQ, German Sausage Hut, How We Rolls, Mr America Hotdogs and Fries, The Smokin’ Grill and Local Mobile Deli.

Once you’ve lined your stomach with BBQ delights, you’ll be able to guzzle down some locally produced craft beers from Newstead Brewing Co and Fortitude Brewing Co.

You might learn something, too, since there’ll be live demonstrations, workshops, and plenty of chances to rub shoulders and learn trade secrets with the nation’s best pit masters at the Meat & BBQ Expo.

Special guest BBQ experts Hillbilly Wes, Jess Pryles and The Shank Bros will all be on hand to teach you a thing or two, so you can host your own BBQ Festival next time.

If you like beats with your BBQ, you’ll be pleased to know the live music line-up at this year’s event includes John Steel Singers, The Hi Boys, Big Blind Ray, Barksdale Brass Band, The Walters, The Sugar Shakers and DJ Norto.

The Brisbane BBQ Festival will be held at Brisbane Showgrounds (Bowen Hills) on Saturday 2 July from 11am. The event is expected to sell out in advance, and no tickets will be available at the gate — you’ll have to grab them online at
