Hola Amigas y Amigos! The city’s newest Mexican joint, Mucho Mexicano, is set to open its doors in South Bank this month, bringing a little Mexican heat to the chilly Brisbane weather.
Offering up a communal style menu, Mucho Mexicano is set to open for dinner on Monday 13 June at Little Stanley Street (previously Che Asado) in South Bank and will showcase a range of Mexican eats.
The new restaurant by The Ole Group (Ole Restaurant, Ole Fuego, Mister Paganini, Sangria Bar) will be the first of two installments, with Milton soon to follow.
Described as vibrant, fresh, tasty and interactive, the food at Mucho Mexicano will offer twists on typical Mexican dining that should be right up the alley of those seeking out modern Mexican gastronomy.
Head chef Wayne Mountford says Mucho Mexicano is casual Mexican fare designed to be fun, vibrant and accessible.
“Its communal eating with a spirit of sharing, feasting and fiesta and we know that Brisbane will love it!” he says.
Order up the Moreton Bay bug tostadas with avocado and avruga, Wagyu beef taco with grilled onion, horseradish salsa verde or truffled chicken quesadillas with queso and jalapeno, or enjoy a range of street bites, burritos, tacos and desserts.
You’ll also need to get your stomachs ready for when Mucho Mexicano introduce ‘The Mother of All Tacos’!
Designed for building your own, enjoy three taco flavours including chipotle braised brisket, crispy pork belly and slow cooked lamb shoulder all served with tortillas, salsa fresca, guacamole and sour cream, as well as DIY tostadas to share with corn chips, sauces, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, beef and pork. Sounds delicious!
Alongside the delicious food offering will be a specialty range of tequilas and margaritas created in Brisbane’s first Margarita bar on the ground level of the restaurant.
Split over two levels, the ground floor dining room seats (indoor and outdoor) 150 guests and the upstairs ‘Piñata Room’ offers a function space for 60 stand up or 40 sit down.
It’s not just the food that’s vibrant and colourful, either. The entrance to the restaurant is fun and colourful with the entry pillars decorated with street art from local Brisbane artist Sarah Jane Bradley.
The restaurant will come alive with fiesta seven days a week for lunch and dinner, 11am to late with breakfast soon launching on Saturdays and Sundays.
Mucho Mexicano will officially open on Monday 13 June at Shop 15 Little Stanley Street in South Bank.
