Pizzantica has opened up a pop-up in Edward Street, offering city workers a delicious gourmet Italian lunch.
You’ve probably see their funky VW Kombi van at markets around town, but now Pizzantica has secured a year-long spot serving up their gourmet pizzas from a pop-up shop on Edward Street in the city.
The van opened its doors in the city on Monday, delighting city workers with an array of delicious Italian pizzas and drinks.
Owner Luca Ferone says the van is open from 11am to 6pm each day.
“We aim to help out with the lunch rush for working people and we also want to catch them for an early dinner,” he says.
“We have takeaway boxes so people can order and take the pizzas home for dinner or back to work for lunch.
“We plan to introduce a SMS and email ordering system too so people can order their lunch and pick it up.”
Luca says hungry customers can expect to choose from three core pizzas, a range of Italian soft drinks and more.
“We’ll be serving up our Margherita pizza with tomato pizza sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil, our Prosciutto pizza with tomato pizza sauce, ham and mozzarella and the Diavola with tomato pizza sauce, spicy salami and mozzarella, with the option to add extras like black olive, mushrooms and pineapple,” he says.
“All our pizza bases are made fresh and everything is made to order. It’s quick too; it’s takes like 3 to 5 minutes to get your order out!
“You’ll really be getting fresh quality meals, but affordable and good value too.”
The Pizzantica team have been very busy this year, setting up shop in a big yellow container at Eat Street Market in January and dealing with plans to open their first bricks and mortar restaurant, Pizzantica Pizzeria this year.
The restaurant was due to open its doors this month, but due to building and maintenance problems it’s been pushed back.
Luca says if all goes to plan they’re hoping to finally open in June.
“I think people really appreciate our service,” he says.
“Once people try our products they want to come back for more!”
