Dutch Courage Officer’s Mess is home to over 120 gins, so it’s not a bad place to scrub on a few liquid lessons.
The Fortitude Valley gin bar, restaurant and cocktail powerhouse knows a thing or two about the juniper-based spirit, with a menu featuring everything from gin bathtubs to Hendrick’s teapots to cocktails that are literally on fire. So their Gin Classics cocktail making masterclass, to be held on Saturday 16 April, is unlikely to disappoint.
If you’ve ever wanted to get your Southside just right, wondered how to craft the perfect Martini, or dreamed of impressing your friends with a second-to-none Negroni, now’s your time to shine.
Dutch Courage’s gin cocktail classes will teach you the basic structure of cocktails, fill you in on the evolution of gin cocktails from the ’90s to now, and show you how to McGyver a great gin cocktail out of whatever you’ve got lying around at home (as long as one of those things is, you know, gin).
Tickets for the $49 a person class (or $45 a head, if you’ve got a group of six or more gin junkies) are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you can’t make the April class, no biggie — Dutch Courage hosts themed masterclasses on the third Saturday of every month, so you’ll have a chance to Play with Fire in May, heat things up with Winter Warmers in June, or take a Spice Trade Sojourn in August.
Dutch Courage is located at 51 Alfred Street, Fortitude Valley.
