The night is dark and full of terrors — and great wine.

After sell-out events in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland in 2015, popular wine event Game of Rhones will return this year for an epic fourth season.

Game of Rhones is a celebration of the classic grape varieties of the Rhone Valley in France. Think plenty of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinsault and a splash of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussane, to name just a few.

With over 40 of the best producers from Australia and New Zealand, including Shaw + Smith, Paxton Biodynamic Wines, Yarra Yering, Olivers Taranga, Henschke, Tarrawarra Estate and more, there will be over 100 wines on tasting and an even bigger offering of hearty fare than ever before to cure your hunger pains.

Guests will be able to taste their way around the room and cast their vote for the Peoples Choice award by pitting variety, style, house and region against each other to see who will reign supreme.

This year will see the debut of the Royal Pass, where a limited number of wine-loving VIPs will have exclusive pre-event access to the wineries between 11am-1pm, all the way through until the event ends at 6pm. It will also give access to special bottles kept aside by the winemakers just for royalty, a food voucher for any one of the food producers, and three wine tastings from the Rhone Bar.

With the legendary blind (folded) tasting ‘torture chamber’ back again (a must at Game of Rhones), and with wine producers and attendees asked to dress in theme, Game of Rhones is set for another monstrous campaign.

Game of Rhones is not endorsed by, or affiliated with, the HBO TV series Game of Thrones — but feel free to be inspired by its characters when it comes time to pick your outfit!

The game is on at Lightspace (30 Light Street, Fortitude Valley) on Sunday 29 May from 1pm to 6pm, with early entry at 11am for Royal Pass holders. For tickets and a full list of exhibitors, visit
