The Yiros Shop is opening its third location this week, and they’re celebrating by giving away free Greek treats this Saturday.
Local restaurateur Nick Jones has already opened stores at James Street and Cannon Hill, and now he’s moving into South Brisbane, with a soft launch this Thursday 10 March followed by a full-on Greek blow-out on Saturday 12 March.
The 50-seater restaurant will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week, with a focus on fresh and traditional gourmet Greek Yiros as well as other traditional Greek dishes, and sweets like rice pudding and galaktoboureko (semolina custard in filo pastry).
Loukomades (Greek doughnnuts, available with either honey and cinnamon or a hazelnut chocolate drizzle) are another highlight of the dessert menu.
At this stage, the South Brisbane store won’t be open for breakfast, but given the roaring trade the Cannon Hill store does at breakfast, don’t be surprised if that changes in the near future.
The Yiros Shop (189 Grey Street, South Brisbane) will host Free Yiros Day this Saturday 12 March from noon to 4pm. For more info, visit their Facebook page.
