Vinnie’s at the Reading Newmarket shopping complex has been a local favourite for a while now, with consistently good food, fast service and a chilled out atmosphere in the midst of a sometimes busy thoroughfare.
The restaurant has just released a new menu, and we decided to start our day by testing it out.
From the breakfast menu, we ordered the omelette with mushrooms, potato, capsicum and fetta on ciabatta.
This healthy dish was both tasty and filling, with a generous amount of soft potato nestled among the well-cooked free-range egg. The two slices of accompanying ciabatta were nice and fresh with a super crisp crust.
Other morning meals include the decadent French toast with two slices of brioche with pure maple syrup, banana cooked lightly in butter and a side of vanilla ice cream.
For a bit of a healthier option, try the vegetarian stack with portabello mushroom, avocado, fried tomato, rocket, feta and sourdough bread. If you’d not adverse to a bit of meat, there is an optional side of bacon available with this.
Coffee here is a rich Segafredo blend, which is brewed beautifully, and for the choc-a-holics among us, a traditional, super-thick Italian hot chocolate is also available.
There is also an array of fresh juices and frappes available which is perfect for the summer months.
The front counter cabinet showcases a range of freshly made wraps, cakes, pastries and biscuits. The vegetarian wrap is a particular favourite, jam-packed with eggplant, pumpkin, spinach and cheese.
Depending on your mood, there are both cosy indoor tables and breezy outdoor al fresco seating available.
With enthusiastic service and quality meals, the new menu at Vinnie’s is set to satisfy as much as the old one.
Vinnie’s is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, and also for dinner on Thursday and Friday nights. To get here, plug in 400 Newmarket Rd, Newmarket into your GPS.
