The recently opened Wilde Kitchen has ensured that healthy eating in the summer months can also be extremely delicious.

Taking over from the old Primal Pantry holdings on Florence St in Teneriffe, the new Wilde Kitchen offers a rustic but chic setting to relax in while you do wonders for your body.

From the breakfast menu, we tried the coconut and almond porridge with chia seeds and cinnamon, drizzled with burnt honey and berries. This dairy-free, paleo, vegetarian dish was almost too pretty to eat, topped with colourful flowers and microherbs.

This dish was entirely satisfying both taste-wise and health-wise. The porridge itself was smooth and creamy while the burnt honey added a sticky caramel sweetness. The raspberries and blueberries were at their ultimate freshness as well to lift the meal.

We washed this down with a pot of chai tea served with almond milk, which was fresh and spicy, using a nice blend of herbs.

Coffee here comes courtesy of Wolff Coffee Roasters. Along with the standard flat whites and cappuccinos, there is a bulletproof coffee option also available, served with MCT oil and grass fed butter.

Other breakfast options at Wilde Kitchen include protein pancakes with Coyo coconut yoghurt, berries and maple syrup.

For those with more of a savoury tooth, there is a sticky pork with spiced pumpkin, tahini pomegranate and a fried duck egg on seeded toast.

Lunch is also served at Wilde Kitchen, including a spiced rubbed beef with chimichurri cauliflower mash, sweet pea and cucumber salad which is both dairy free and paleo.

Vegetarians are also well catered for with a nourishing vege bowl on offer, incorporating spiced pumpkin and tahini cream.

Anyone on a super health kick can benefit from the healing broths on offer all day. Options include a chicken, lemongrass and ginger broth, or beef broth enriched with star anise and cinnamon.

Desserts have also been given the healthy makeover here, with a full cabinet of cakes, slices and bliss balls available.

We tried a protein-rich chocolate fudge brownie with whey. It was soft and delightful, and nice to know that this gluten-free treat had way more health benefits that your standard chocolate fare.

Wilde Kitchen can be found on the corner of Macquarie and Florence Streets in Teneriffe and is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.
