Indooroopilly’s new Station Road dining area continues to develop with the new Corbett and Claude joining the al fresco life here.
This modern addition to the western suburbs’ bar and restaurant scene has a chic mix of solid wood and black metal furnishings, which are softened with a small forest of hanging ferns and strings of lights from the rooftop.
The bar offers rounds of cocktail jugs, including a chocolate old fashioned, made on Ron Zacapa rum, chocolate liqueur and chocolate bitters.
Or for something more summery, try the refreshing Jazzy Colins with Tanqueray gin, lemon juice, mandarin juice, thyme and soda.
Meals are made for sharing at Corbett and Claude with an array of small plates and pizzas on offer.
We tried the grilled prawn pizza with rocket and chilli jam. The pizza was on a fresh and crispy flatbread style base, and there were a good amount of prawns scattered on top. However, the chilli jam used was really quite sweet which unfortunately overpowered the delicate flavours of the prawns.
From the share menu, we ordered Mrs D’s crispy chicken bites with a chipotle aioli. These were a winner, with good quality chicken breast used that was coated in a crispy salt and pepper coating.
Next up we tried the pan fried gnocchi, with house made pesto. These little gnocchi bites were dusted in a light crumb coating that kept the outside nice and crispy, and the pesto was nice and tasty with a strong pine nut flavour to it.
Finally we also ordered a seasonal salad, with beetroot, goat’s cheese, pomegranate and exotic Inca berries which added a nice tartness to the dish. The quality of ingredients used in the salad was outstanding, with the fresh beetroot working well with the creamy goat’s cheese.
Dessert options at Corbett and Claude include waffles with toasted honey ice cream, or a Nutella dessert pizza.
For anyone passing through on the commute home, all food items are available take-away.
Corbett and Claude can be found at Station Rd in Indooroopilly and is open from midday until late, seven days a week.
