Two bars in Sydney and Melbourne have made the top 10, but Brisbane failed to rate a mention in the top 50.

The World’s 50 Best Bar Awards have just been announced and Brisbane is nowhere in sight.

Sydney and Melbourne, however, managed to crack the top 10 with Sydney’s Baxter Inn taking sixth spot and Melbourne’s Black Pearl in the tenth position.

Naturally London and New York dominated the list of places to drink expensive, creative concoctions with nine London bars and eight New York watering holes marking the cut.

The prestigious awards are conducted by Drinks International magazine based on a worldwide survey of 400 industry insiders.

The Baxter Inn is described as a basement, underground bar in a laneway off Clarence Street. Those that frequent the place rave about its vast selection of Whiskey.

Melbourne’s Black Pearl in Brunswick St, Fitzroy is a cocktail bar with, ‘comfy couches’. The mention couldn’t come at a better time with the establishment having just finished renovations.

Next time you’re interstate walk on in and see what all the fuss is about.
