If you love coffee, cake and bunches of colourful flowers, then get yourself to Flora Organika ASAP.
Nestled around the bend on Woodstock Road in Toowong, Flora Organika opened its doors a little over three weeks ago.
Polish sisters Grace Cunningham and Bozena Littlechild had always hoped that one day they would work together and open their own store. They were not exactly certain what they would offer, but they came from creative backgrounds – design and photography – and knew that whatever venture they started would also need to incorporate cake and coffee (two of their favourite things).
Add in beautiful blooms and traditional Polish amber jewellery and you have the gorgeous mix of going ons at Flora Organika.
So is it a florist offering coffee or a cafe offering flowers? Either way, it’s offering a delightful mix of the best things in life. The two sisters agree, adding: “We’ve always loved good cake and the flower side of things allows us to be creative.”
Using an aromatic blend of Organic beans, the small is inviting and warm with mismatched tables, hessian tablecloths and wooden chairs. There is seating inside, outside along the street and also in a adorable outdoor courtyard that feels like you’ve wandered into a serene scene in Europe somewhere.
While waiting for your cake, you peruse the collection of homewares, kokedama, moss balls, candles, buckets of brightly-coloured flowers or check out the cake made entirely from flowers.
If you’re focused on the what you’re going to indulge in, on the counter you’ll find a selection of freshly-baked treats from muffins to biscuits to cakes (the baker is a local lady who creates magic in her kitchen). If you’re seeking something healthier, you can pick from the cabinet which is full of raw and organic cakes plus savoury options including sandwiches and frittatas.
You can find Flora Organika at 5/35 Woodstock Road, Toowong and it is open Monday-Saturday for all your coffee, cake and flower needs.
