La Vue Waterfront Restaurant is a secluded and sophisticated space with beautiful interiors, fabulous food and a view that is more than mesmerising.

Even though it’s situated in such a central location, if you’re never ventured a little off the beaten CBD path, you may never have come across La Vue Restaurant.

Tucked away down behind the Marriott Hotel and located so close to the water that you could dive in after dinner, the venue is spacious, sophisticated and filled with soft light.

Even though you are so close to everything, you feel as though you’re dining in a remote part of a European city, as the only sights and sounds you experience are those from inside the space and the city and river views.

This is no mean feat considering the location and how close they are to the heart of the city. And yet once you wander down the steps and saunter into the restaurant it feels as though you are entering another world.

The service is impeccable. Waiters appear almost magically to top up your water glass, remove plates or offer helpful suggestions about meal or wine choices. White tablecloths cover the solid wood furniture, each table is positioned to make sure each diner can experience the view and candles cast flickering light around the space.

The menu draws upon European influences and is full of flavoursome dishes with a French flair. From a delightful de-boned quail salad with pickled cucumber ribbons and a lemon, thyme dressing to a spanner crab and avocado tian with a lemon, tomato dressing or the glazed fig and fetta tart; all the starters are enticing. Mains include a duck risotto with duck salt, mascarpone and herbs, a tiger prawns thermidor with dressed rocket and potato rosti and an eye fillet with a rich, red wine Bordelaise, glazed baby onions and pomme puree.

If you’re not already stuffed silly with the amazing savoury selection, then dive into the desserts with aplomb. Standouts include the chocolate fondant with macerated strawberries and hazelnut praline, the soft meringue with tropical salsa, crème anglaise and macadamias or the very French profiteroles with fresh cream and strawberries.

La Vue Waterfront Restaurant promises seclusion from the hustle and bustle — an intoxicatingly good dining experience filled with moments to envelop all the senses.
