Tucked away down a West End laneway is the new craft brewery and bar, Brisbane Brewing Co., where you can drink organic ale and feast on delicious food seven days a week.
The second brewing establishment for owners Grant and Michelle Clark, Brisbane Brewing Co. has just opened its doors and locals are flocking there, eager to sample their preservative-free beers which are brewed onsite.
Located in the heart of West End, smack bang along the main street, the craft brewery is the perfect spot to sip on a high quality beer and sample the continental-style menu from the kitchen.
Lead brewer (and local West End resident) Simeon Bonetti brews in 1000L batches, and there are typically at least eight beers in production. These beers are brewed with love and dedication and all ingredients used are the freshest available which makes for a consistently delicious drop. The various beers are all kegged and are supplied to the bar onsite and both the Woolloongabba venue Brewhouse Brisbane. This means there is a constant supply of locally-brewed draught beer as well as being available at any time for party keg hire.
The beers currently on tap are…
BPA – Brisbane Pale Ale
Sunshine Honey Wheat
Sunset Golden Ale
Brissy Pils – Organic Lager
Brewhouse Brown Ale
Brisbane Amber Ale
The Hefe – Hefeweizen
They also stock a huge range of bottled craft beer from all over the globe, choosing the brands and brews they enjoy the most.
The venue itself is spacious and styled to perfectly suit the Queensland climate, holding around 120 people seated and another 30 plus standing. The combination of bold colours, lots of natural wood, leather finishings, oversized striped umbrellas for shade and cane stools works well. Large potted plants are placed everywhere and the front pathway is lit up by strings of tiny lights. The result is breezy and bright and very welcoming; you can easily imagine whiling away the hours on a weekend afternoon or popping down for a bite and beer after work.
Plus Brisbane Brewing Co. will soon to offering growlers. A growler is a refillable amber glass bottle which holds 1.89L (which is approximately the equivalent of a craft six pack). They have a refilling station with four beers connected to fill the bottles which ensures a quality product can be taken away. Draught beer is guaranteed to be fresh so you are getting a better product and saving the environment by no wastage of bottles and packaging. So you can drink with a clear conscious and on the understanding that by purchasing a growler, you can making an eco-friendly decision.
To accompany all these beverages, Brisbane Brewing Co. has put together a menu that will delight. The onsite deli serves up simple fare that promises to pack a flavour punch. Brothers Tim and Dan Searle are in charge of the kitchen. Tim has been anointed the official head chef and the brothers came from well-known Taps at Mooloolaba. Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible and prepared by a kitchen of happy chefs, meaning there are myriad choices on the menu that will appeal.
Choose from meat and cheese platters where you can chow down on 12 hour slow-cooked beef brisket, sweet pulled pork, a hearty potato and bacon salad, a variety of hard and soft cheese plus condiments like smoked tomato relish, house made beer mustard and pickles. One of their specialities is the hoagie sandwich, and if you can fit in something more substantial, make sure you sample the beer battered Barramundi, That Bloody Duck or the rib fillet.
Grant also pointed that “over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to introduce live entertainment to the venue, as well as seven nights of food specials. In addition to this, we are going to introduce a Local’s Card for 4101 residents, and a Brisbane Brewing Co. loyalty card for non-locals so that everyone feels special.” And who doesn’t want to feel special.
Here’s a venue that understands the importance and impact of keeping it local and doing it with love.
