If you’ve ever thought that having a fleet of food trucks to sample from sounded like a brilliant idea, make sure you stop by the Global Cafe on November 12-13.
As part of the G20 celebrations, Brisbane’s King George Square will welcome a fleet of food trucks in celebration of the Global Cafe at City Hall.
Look out for the seven food trucks who are out to satisfy hungry city workers and visitors, with everything from American pulled-pork rolls and BBQ smoked ribs to beautifully-made Japanese bento boxes.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk explains how it will work. “The food trucks will be brought onsite to showcase Brisbane’s growing food scene for the lead up to the G20, and complement The City’s Global Flavours program on offer throughout the month of November.
“The fleet of food trucks will be convenient for attendees of the Global Cafe – a series of talks and forums which will bring together some of the world’s most influential thinkers. Attendees will have the chance to satisfy their taste buds, while fuelling their minds by purchasing anything from an espresso coffee to a slice of Napoli-style pizza or Brazilian street food.”
The list of food trucks includes…
Experience a barbecue on a global scale with a selection grilled cuisine from Asia, Europe, Oceania, America, Africa and the Middle East.
Cool off with espresso coffee, hot chocolates, milkshakes, iced coffees and slushies.
Juan More Taco (Wednesday only)
Juan More Taco is raring to feed hungry hordes Mexican that’ll have you shaking your maracas! They serve traditional tacos featuring warm soft corn tortillas with tasty fillings topped with homemade salsa and special sauces made from scratch.
Lost Bean – Mobile Coffee
Enjoy a pick-me-up of espresso coffee, hot chocolate, chai and treats.
Choose from a selection of freshly made traditional Napoli-style inspired pizza along with two Italian savoury breakfast choices.
Sushi Neko Food Van
Sushi Neko specialises in bento boxes and beautifully made Temari sushi.
That BBQ Joint
Indulge in smoked pork ribs, pulled pork rolls, beef brisket rolls, and mixed barbecue plates with potato salad.
Vira Lata Food Truck (Thursday only)
Serving artisan Brazilian sandwiches and street food.
If that all sounds like the perfect mid week food adventure, then head to City Hall to find The Global Cafe food trucks which are operating on Wednesday November 12, from 7am to 7pm with coffee available until 8.30pm and Thursday November 13, from 7am to 3.30pm.
As the Lord Mayor points out, “The Global City is Queensland’s most diverse food destination and what better way to showcase this diversity to our CBD than the week of the G20 Leaders Summit – when approximately 4,000 local and international delegates and 3,000 media descend on Brisbane.”
If you can’t make it to The Global Cafe in person, the keynote addresses, breakout sessions and panel discussions are streaming at globalcafe.com.au — but unfortunately, science just hasn’t found a way to deliver pork rolls via the internet.
