Ready for some beachfront fine dining? The Strand at Coolangatta will be sizzling this summer, with some of the hottest names in the food world to open their highly-anticipated venues at the new Dining Precinct.

High profile Sydney chefs will join local stars of the Gold Coast restaurant scene in creating an innovative and exciting dining destination at The Strand, formerly known as Showcase on the Beach, in the heart of Coolangatta and everyone’s tastebuds are already tingling.

Love gelato? Sydney’s Nick Palumbo, founder of cult sensation Gelato Messina, will be bringing his famous gelato to Coolangatta. And with five stores in Sydney and one in Melbourne, Gelato Messina is sure to be a hit as this is the inventive ice-creamery’s first Queensland store.

Also joining the collection of cafes, bars and restaurants is award-winning Middle Eastern restaurant Kazbah, offering modern Middle Eastern cuisine with a unique Gold Coast feel.

Plus The Strand has also announced highly acclaimed Gold Coast chef, Daniel Ridgeway, the mastermind behind Bin 12 at Burleigh’s James Street and Little Truffle at Mermaid Beach, will open Bin 72 at The Strand at Coolangatta; reinventing his revered Bin concept for the Coolangatta precinct.

But that’s not all – more big names on the Gold Coast food scene are opening at The Strand this summer. Meyjitte Boughenout and Arnault Ollivier, owners of Absynthe French Restaurant in Surfers Paradise are set to delight diners with their new gourmet burger concept. Burger Trap is a local take on the growing movement for high-end chefs to deliver restaurant-quality, gourmet fare that is accessible to everyday diners. Locally-sourced, organic produce will be on the menu, with a focus on bringing healthy ingredients back into burgers.

And the latest craze in High Tea is coming to The Strand. A dessert café that is a blend of English tea house, Parisian patisserie and Belgian chocolatier, Passiontree Velvet is a dedicated High Tea establishment. Doesn’t it all sound so decadent and delicious?

And we’re not surprised to learn that Max Brenner Chocolate Bar is bringing his tempting chocolate delights to this location as well and this will be one of his largest venues to date.

Black Sheep Espresso Baa is adding gourmet coffee to the mix with a focus on high-quality coffee beans. A selection of breakfast and lunch items will be on offer for those wanting to indulge a little longer in the coffee experience, while taking in the breathtaking views over Coolangatta Beach.

Griffith Street Larder is the latest venture from Blackboard Coffee owner Nicholas Pearce and chef Marc Kinivig, bringing the centre to life along Griffith St. The café will complement The Strand’s focus on bringing unique local operators and quality product to the Coolangatta market.

And Beach House Health Bar is sure to be a hit all year round at The Strand, adding a colourful, ’70s Californian vibe to The Strand. With gourmet frozen yoghurt, smoothies and breakfast bowls, Beach House will offer the perfect hangout for beach lovers and health-conscious foodies craving a light, refreshing option.

After reading through that long list of choices, it seems the biggest problem that will face visitors will be deciding how to choose what to eat.
