A tranquil little café, tucked within Carseldine’s Eden Gardens, is the ideal place to escape for brunch and afternoon tea while seeking some décor inspiration.

Upon a trip to Eden Gardens Carseldine, expect to be inspired as you wander through the 1.5 hectare botanical playground, with a pit-stop of course at Dragonfly Café for a delicious brunch or afternoon tea.

Tucked between the waterside and garden oasis, the Dragonfly Café has a luscious breakfast and lunch menu, lovingly prepared by head chef Nicole.

Must-try menu options include (pictured):

Crushed avocado on toasted sourdough with a fresh sautéed mushroom, tomato, onion and herb combination.

Vegetarian big breakfast: mushrooms, spinach, grilled tomato, avocado, haloumi, hash browns, toasted sourdough and choice of poached, scrambled or fried eggs.

Moroccan lamb: marinated backstrap with warmed fruit and nut quinoa salad served with a dollop of tzatziki (GF)

Chicken risotto: asparagus, chicken, mushroom and corn with a hint of cream (GF)

Beef cheeks slow cooked in fresh herbs and red wine, served with a ratatouille and creamy sweet potato mash.

Vegetarian lasagne: pasta sheets layered with eggplant, capsicum, zucchini, carrot, celery and spinach with creamy béchamel sauce. Served with a fresh garden salad and balsamic dressing.

Dragonfly Café also has a fair few delicious desserts for you to enjoy – we picked the lemon meringue pie (pictured).

After you’ve relaxed with breakfast or lunch, explore the gardens to find your next green thumb project or stock for a new DIY job.

Reminiscent of a spread from Better Homes & Gardens, the Eden Gardens oasis is stocked with hundreds of native, tropical and specialised plant species. Inside, the retail store is loaded with gifts, homewares, pet products, books, water features, garden art and irresistible décor.

During the centre’s recent renovation, Eden Education was introduced for guests to gain some hands-on experience and new skills through classes.

Located along Gympie Road in Carseldine, Eden Gardens is a peaceful escape – but expect to dedicate an entire afternoon to your trip.
