Named ‘Best Neighbourhood Shop’ in the world by Monocle magazine, Sourced Grocer is an absolute treasure for Teneriffe locals.
Sourced Grocer, near the riverside in Newstead, is an internationally-acclaimed organic supermarket-cum-coffee shop.
The small Brisbane store took out the Best Neighbourhood Shop title in London-based international publication Monocle last year, finding a place alongside famous venues in New York, Paris and Tokyo.
The converted warehouse is packed with eco-friendly groceries from south-east Queensland and northern NSW. Visitors can expect the likes of rainfed brown rice from Nimbin, pork shops from Bangalow, Eumundi smokehouse sausages, sourdough loaves from Morningside’s Leavain Bakery, Choquette pastries and Gundowring ice-cream.
While perusing the produce, guests can also grab breakfast and some fabulous coffee. The venue uses a special bean blend from Brother Espresso, Brisbane’s specialty coffee producers based in Fortitude Valley. For breakfast, guests can’t go past the simple but delicious avocado smash (pictured).
Perched along Florence St in the quieter side of town, the warehouse is scattered with trestle tables and crates for the ideal weekend morning setting.
