Tucked below ground on Newstead’s Commercial Road, a new cocktail den and secret garden bar can be discovered.
The secret’s out – the hidden Twig and Berry may just tick all the boxes to become Brisbane’s next bar great, by serving their sumptuous cocktails to Newstead punters.
Nestled in an old Union office beneath a commercial building in Newstead, the discretely-gated entrance to The Twig and Berry reveals a cosily equipped bar with a fairy-lit garden courtyard, handmade furniture, birdcage lights and black couches against matching wallpaper.
A ceiling made of antique doors and copper Parisian lightshades overhang the spacious cellar lounge, where guests can enjoy a selection of cocktails and classics.
The House Cocktails, carefully crafted by the resident ‘booze-enthused’ bartenders, should definitely be your first point-of-call. Stand-outs include:
Another Shrubbery – Buffalo Trace, Antica Formula, Whiskey barrel bitters and a housemade shrub based on fresh orange, raspberries, sugar and red vinaigrette.
Bow Street Breakfast – Jamesons, Pedro Ximenez, housemade hazelnut syrup, old fashioned bitters, and coffee beans; served hot.
Box Cutter Smash – Chivas Regal 12 year old, lemon juice, smokey fig syrup, mint, peach bitters and raspberry.
The Wheat of Zeus – Campari, Chartreuse Cuvee des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, lime juice and a house made Persimmon, Basic and tartaric acid syrup.
The Twig and Berry – Hayman’s Gin, Campari, black pepper, topped with orange, raspberries and red wine vinegar shrub.
Alternatively, The Twig and Berry offer 20 Australian and international wines, as well as 20 ciders and craft beers for your choosing.
Escape to Brisbane’s newest secret bar, and you’ll be delighted at what’s on offer.
