Tucked within Fortitude Valley’s Emporium, a mecca of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine can be found, with a refreshed menu on offer.
A visit to Brisbane’s renowned Mecca Bah feels like a fleeting trip to the Middle East.
Restaurant manager Fallon Gomesz says the venue has approached 2014 with a revamped winter menu.
“The new menu looks at keeping popular items, which have been iconic of Mecca Bah, while developing new items which will carry the restaurant into the future,” says Gomesz.
Their extensive menu stretches from mezze dishes to tagines, sharable shish banquets and Turkish desserts.
Stand-outs on the starters menu include the baked haloumi with pomegranate mint salad and lemon, and the Moroccan potato cakes filled with goats cheese and pinenuts.
Additionally, the hummus topped with spiced lamb, pinenuts and herbs with Lebanaese Za’tar bread is a great, sharable dish to begin your Mecca Bah banquet.
“Patrons love the variety and flavours at Mecca Bah – every dish on the menu compliments each other.”
When selecting a main, any of the spicy Moroccan tagines make for a great choice.
However if you’re dining with a loved one, share the Baharat Spiced Beef Shish (pictured) which is accompanied by Lebanese flat bread, pilaf rice and a fresh salad mix.
“Our menu is designed to share and be enjoyed family-style.”
While dining in the Bazaar, it’s the finishing touches of décor and Middle Eastern spiced scents that create the relaxing ambience.
“We take our guests on a journey,” continues Gomesz, “Mecca Bah moves at a fast pace, echoing the hustle and bustle of a traditional Middle Easter market place.”
