Grand Caffe Northgate brings an inner-city punch to the northern suburbs. Set in an industrial street, not far from the Northgate train station, the café plays up its industrial setting

The Grand Caffe itself is built in a shipping container, and has been fitted out with salvaged materials, all adding to the ‘upcycled’ cool atmosphere.

Owners Joe Lafauce and Viv Datta opened the Grand Caffe earlier this year, and with their combined skills and knowledge in food and all things coffee, they have been a huge hit with locals and visitors to the area.

Joe is the resident pastry chef, so freshly-baked sweets such as French vanilla slice and banoffee pie are guaranteed. While Joe is whipping up your daily treat, Viv is masterfully operating the coffee machine – ensuring you a happy start to your day. For those who like to know where their coffee is coming from, Viv uses Elixir beans.

The guys at Grand Caffe are open for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast you’ll find a selection of favourites – eggs benedict served on corn fritters and Canadian pancakes. Lunchtime brings fresh sandwiches, pies and burgers along with daily specials including salmon fritters. Alongside the regular menu, you’ll find the mini express menu for both meals, offering quick options for those on the run to catch a train.
