The Balfour Kitchen is now open to the public for dinner!
Tucked away in one of New Farm’s residential streets is Hotel Spicer’s Balfour, featuring the fabulous Balfour Kitchen.
Locals in the know will be aware that it’s not just out-of-towners who enjoy the bounty of this fabulous kitchen. For the last few years locals and visitors alike have been delighted with knock-out breakfasts and high teas.
The good news is that this darling Brisbane venue is now open for dinner. All those who enjoy simple, honest, home-cooked classics are in for a treat, as Head Chef Peter van Lunn takes your favourites and lovingly recreates them with the finest produce around.
“It’s hearty soul food,” Peter said. “It’s healthy food but it’s also a little bit decadent at the same time. I try not to touch anything too much but let the flavours and produce speak for themselves.”
Sit out on the breezy verandah, or in the dining room, and enjoy a balmy Brisbane evening while you tuck into a truffled eye fillet, cider-braised pork belly or gremolata gnocchi and scallops. The wine list offers a comprehensive list of Australian varieties, as well as a few French bubbles for the special occasion.
“We’ve also tried to keep with the theme of the old converted Queenslander – classic dishes but with a twist.”
