Racecourse Road has recently become home to boutique beer bar The Stables Craft Bar & Kitchen, the perfect place to go to sample a local brew.
Owners Marcus Tanzer and Dan Ward are the brains behind The Stables and locals are rejoicing at the opening of this cosy craft bar.
The space is located mid way along Racecourse Road and is beautifully finished with warm woods, metal accents and green potted plants. The low lighting and exposed brick walls have created an inviting environment where it’s possible to sit and sip on brews for hours at a time before feeling the need to move on. The building was previously an old butcher shop and to pay homage to the history of the area – the walls are adorned with vintage photographs of Eagle Farm Racecourse and Racecourse Road. Wander along and take a moment to step back in time.
With seven beers on tap and one cider, plus 35-40 bottled beers on offer, The Stables is a beer-lovers haven. Mostly stocking Australian and local brews from microbrewies as well as Sierra Nevada from the USA, there is a beer for everybody. Some notables to try are Moondog Jumping The Shark, an Imperial Red Ale spiced with saffron by Moon Dog Craft Brewery, and Praline by La Sirene Brewing, a Belgian chocolate ale. Cider fans will be rejoice as the cider on tap is Willie Smith’s Organic Cider from Tasmania.

Or ask for some suggestions about which cocktail will suit your mood best (the friendly staff are more than willing to wade in and offer advice) or sip on a win from the small but well-rounded wine list.
The Stables also serves up a selection of drool-worthy savoury meals which are available from opening right through to close. Head chef Kynan Henry has constructed a menu full of delectable meals and interesting flavours. And as of last week, The Stables is now open for breakfast on the weekend from 7am.
